Mr. Foxypants a.k.a. DJ Cyrano and I spent the weekend in San Diego at Tiki Oasis 10. We drove down Saturday morning and arrived with just minutes to spare before starting our 10 am to Noon DJ shift poolside at the Hanalei Hotel…
which has been unfortunately renamed The Crowne Plaza San Diego.
We got the morning shift as the Newbie Guest DJs three years ago. Initially, we were bummed out.
10 am on Saturday morning? Really? Who’s going to dance to Don Ho and Irish Sea Shanties at that hour?
Very quickly we realized that the 10 am shift is actually the best on the schedule. It’s not blast furnace hot at that hour, and people are too busy having brunch with their kids (and too hungover) to get belligerent. We’ve requested that time slot ever since.
Speaking of hungover and belligerent, this year we ran into Kate Flannery, our hilarious pal, who plays Meredith, the sad drunk, on THE OFFICE. Kate really hags herself out to play Meredith. She’s so much cuter in real life!
