Hi Martha (and all),

Things are looking up on all fronts. The journals (and prominent speakers) are, for the most part, giving more attention to chemical free, treatment free, organic, etc approaches.

The change isn’t confined to the bee world either. Ramona and I have just finished writing The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Beekeeping. This is put out by a major publisher, and will be available in all the book stores and online retailers.

What is notable about this project is that we did not initiate it. We were going about our business selling honey, planning our conference, and yapping on the internet. An agent contacted us, and having read Ramona’s agenda for the conference, she asked us to write the book. We made it clear that we would only do so from the treatment free perspective, and the response was that in fact, a treatment free approach is what they were looking for.

So, beginning in May, anyone will be able to walk into a bookstore, and find a beginning book that instructs the beekeeper not to use treatments, to regress to small cell, teaches about the microbial culture in the hive, and is dedicated to Dee Lusby….all for $14.95!

(amazon is accepting preorders for $10.08)

All of this from a major publisher, available everywhere…all over the world.

We are humbled by the responsibility of being the conduit for the knowledge, wisdom, and practices that we all discuss here. We could not have done this without the help and support of this list in general, and the many beekeepers we rely on for help, information, inspiration and moral support.

Thank you all,

Dean and Ramona
