Eating Well On A Small Budget: Homemade Junk Food

My husband, A.K.A. Mr. Shoppypants, who is generally bullied into a more frugal lifestyle by me, has just decided that we will not be buying any junk food this year. If we want something terrible and unhealthy to eat, then we’ll have to make it. His decision was inspired by our mutual unemployment and his love of baking. Since he’s got extra time in his day, he might as well spend it in the kitchen. In addition to being far more delicious than store bought, his homemade junk food is a lot cheaper, even though he’s using the best ingredients. We can save money and eat better at the same time.

Now, anyone have a recipe for home made cheesey poofs?

Update: This is actually pretty dangerous. I never buy oatmeal cookies at the store. However, today I managed to eat a half dozen homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies round granola bars with my morning coffee.

From my bookmarked recipes of new things to try so I only know they look delicious. Also they’re not cheesy poofs but they have cheese and get poofy when you bake them: http://tastykitchen.com/blog/2011/09/homemade-goldfish-crackers/
