Bee Rodeo!

whataretheydoing 175x175 Bee Rodeo! There was a lot of commotion over at the Speaker Bee hive today, so I went out to check on the rumpus. The bees were busy doing some spring cleaning, pulling the string that we’d used to tie the comb into the frames out the front door, and dumping it on the ground in front of the hive. Check out the bee on the right side of the image below holding the string in midair. She’s going to make that string behave if it’s the last thing she does!

The worker bees heave-ho the string out of the hive, while those fat drones just hang out “supervising.”

The smooth cotton kitchen twine always comes out of the hive all fuzzy. I think it’s because the bees lick the string clean of honey, wax, etc…so they don’t throw out valuable resources with the trash.beerodeo Bee Rodeo!

That is so cool. I would LOVE to do a bee hive, and so would my two boys, but hubby says we can’t because we would be liable if someone got stung. :(
