Bee Beards

This morning, the Speaker Bees were still bearding on the outside of the hive, which made me suspect that the queen bee had also spent the night camping under the stars. To remedy this situation, I misted the bees with some honey water so I could brush them off the front of the hive with my bee brush and into the colander. Then I was going to use the colander to dump the bees into the top of the hive box. Luckily, getting hosed down with honey water was so annoying to the queen that she huffily scooted inside the hive without any further help from me. Over the next hour, the rest of the campers moved inside with her.
