the bees 175x175 ABC 7 News Interviews My Bees About Backyard Beekeeping In Los AngelesLast Thursday Alysha Del Valle from ABC 7 News came over to my house to interview me as part of a story on backyard beekeeping. Naturally, it started pouring down rain during the interview. And you know, bees just love being cold and wet about as much as they like being eaten alive by a raccoon. Luckily, my bees are professionals. The bees were totally charming and well behaved for the entire two hours it took Alysha and Mark, her camera man, to interview me and get tons of “Bee-Roll” for the story. It should be noted, that Mark did not get the memo about wearing light colored clothes and long pants, and showed up for the shoot wearing navy blue shorts and a maroon short-sleeved polo shirt. He didn’t get stung or even buzzed, but reported that one bee pulled on one of his neck hairs while he was shooting a close up of the interior of the hive! (That bee was not happy about being on camera).

I was really impressed by how fearless Alysha and Mark both were about handling bees. Alysha wore her skirt and blouse through the entire interview and only put on the veil and inspector jacket to show her viewers what bee gear looks like. I’m grateful that Alysha approached the subject of backyard beekeeping with an open mind, and I hope she takes up beekeeping as a hobby, because she’s a natural at it!

GREAT story! I loved that I got to see your koi pond, too. Good job! Alysha really got it. :)

    Save the bees!

Loved how she cheered for the bees at the end – Yay for bees! She seemed so happy to have her own little jar of honey. Great interview, great job. Thanks so much for posting!
